The Medical Gay and Lesbian Organization (MedGLO) is a social and support network for UCLA medical students, residents, and faculty who identify as gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex, or as allies of equality in medicine. All who are interested in learning more are welcome!
MedGLO strives to unite the LGBTQ medical student community with the greater DGSOM body in order to ease the transition and provide programming for LGBTQ-identified students. Social activities include brunches, outings, and mixers. MedGLO also strives to unite LGBTQ allied health professions students through its events and initiatives.
MedGLO focuses on (1) educating the DGSOM community about LGBTQ health issues and (2) advocating for competent and compassionate care on behalf of LGBTQ patients. MedGLO sponsors and collaborates on talks, presentations, and an annual conference at UCLA to address LGBTQ issues across multiple forums.
There are multiple ways to get involved with MedGLO! Join us for a lunch time meeting or discussion, a social event, or take on a more active role within our organization by joining leadership. All who believe that LGBTQ patients have the basic human right to adequate healthcare or support those who are LGBTQ in medicine are welcome!
